Profile: Fatemeh Mohammadi, Ph.D.
A well respected scientist, innovator, entrepreneur, researcher, and leader, Dr. Fatemeh Mohammadi was the Vice President of Corporate Innovation at The Estée Lauder Companies. She joined Estée Lauder in 2001 from her previous position at Unilever. She also worked as a Research Associate for the Aids Prevention Project with the National Institute of Health.
Throughout her career, Fatemeh has been a driving force in the discovery, development, and delivery of novel technology platforms for skin care and skin health and turning them into paradigm-breaking products that fuel brand innovation. She was the first woman who was recognized as an Estée Lauder Companies Scientific Fellow with an award-winning plaque in 2018.
Fatemeh holds a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Organometallic Chemistry from Sussex University in England. She received her doctoral degree from the College of Pharmacy, University of Kentucky in the field of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutics. She participated in the management certificate program in quality assurance at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has also completed numerous leadership and strategic management training.
Fatemeh has 32+ years of national and international experience in the design and development of beauty and pharmaceutical technologies and products. Her notable achievements are the development of several new molecules and the creation of many disrupted platform technologies in the lines of anti-aging/repair, moisturizers, whitening/ brightening, sun care, and exfoliators/cleansers. The products have been launched over time with many known brands.
Fatemeh has authored 50+ patents in the field of beauty and pharmaceutics that were issued and granted in 110 countries. Her products have been nominated for many national and international awards, including the CEW Beauty awards for 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2017 in the category of skin care; Allure magazine, Best in Beauty Hall of Fame Award, 2004, 2005, and 2006; and Duty-Free News International, highly commended in the DFNI 2005 product awards in the category of Best Skin Care Launch.
Fatemeh has many peer-reviewed scientific publications and is the holder of more than 50+ patents at the national and international levels. She has been invited as a guest speaker at national and international forums, and has been a member of many professional organizations, including AAD, AAPS, ACS, CRS, CEW, CTFA, and SCC
